Region gains 9,000 jobs in 12 months ended in February

ALBANY – Job growth in the Hudson Valley continues as the region gained 9,000 jobs in the 12-month period ending in February.
Greene County posted the biggest gain with 3.9 percent more jobs. Greene ranked second in the state for job growth.
Columbia County ranked second in the region and third in the state with 2.6 percent job growth.
New jobs in Ulster County rose by 1.6 percent while they increased by 1.4 percent in the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metropolitan Division.
Sullivan County saw 0.6 percent growth in jobs.
The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division saw job growth of 0.4 percent.
Four sectors saw new jobs – educational and health services; professional and business services; natural resources, mining and construction; and other services.
While job growth continued in the Hudson Valley, at 1.2 percent in February, it lagged behind the state, at 2.0 percent, and the nation at 2.8 percent.
