Decker
MILFORD – A Port Jervis man was sentenced in Pike County, Pennsylvania Court for failure to register a residence where he was living in Westfall Township.
Frederick Decker, 39, was required to register his residence with the Pennsylvania State Police due to a prior conviction of sexual abuse of a child under 11. He was convicted at a January jury trial and was sentenced to seven to 14 years in state prison. In sentencing Decker, Judge Gregory Chelak noted Decker had been previously convicted of Megan’s Law violations on four separate occasions.
In the summer 2014, Eastern Pike Regional Police got a tip that Decker was living at the Westfall address. He was found there and admitted to the police he was living there for six to eight weeks.
The police charged him with failing to comply with registration requirements.
As a result of a prior conviction for sexual abuse in New York, Decker is classified as a level three sex offender under Pennsylvania’s version of Megan’s Law. Under the law, when he established a residence, he was required to register the address with the State Police.
“Decker is both a sex offender and has a prior conviction under Megan’s Law,” said Pike County District Attorney Raymond Tonkin. “These individuals are required to provide their information for public safety purposes and my office will vigorously seek long sentenced for those that fail to comply with the law.”
