Delano-Hitch Stadium, home of the Newts

NEWBURGH – The newly formed independent East Coast Baseball League is about to begin its first season with six teams including the Newburgh Newts.
The team hopes to play at Delano-Hitch Stadium.
League owner Colin Cummins of Ontario, Canada likes the city and the Hudson Valley and believes Newburgh and the region can support another baseball team – The Hudson Valley Renegades play in Fishkill and the Rockland Boulders play in Pomona.
Cummins has been to Delano-Hitch and likes what he sees as a baseball stadium.
“The park is very visible and it is a good park to be able to use,” he said. “I like the community. The community in and around Newburgh is a good baseball community and we would like to put a team there for many years to come.”
This won’t be the first professional baseball team in Newburgh. The Night Hawks played in 1995-1996 and the Black Diamonds played in 1998.
