Basement fire in Rockland County home

CHESTNUT RIDGE – Fire in a basement at a house at 175 Old Nyack Turnpike in Chestnut Ridge Monday morning damaged that area of the house.  All residents were able to get out safely and there were no reported injuries.
Ramapo Police said the 11 a.m. blaze was extinguished by Spring Valley firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ramapo Police Detective Bureau and Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
The Spring Valley Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the South Spring Valley Fire Department, Rockland Paramedics, Faist Ambulance, the Ramapo Fire Inspector’s Office and the Red Cross.
