Saugerties Police administer Narcan successfully for fourth time

SAUGERTIES – For the fourth time since
Saugerties Police began carrying Narcan in July of last year, the department
has administered the opioid overdose drug successfully four times, the
most recent of which was on March 20 of this year.

Police were called to 20 Ulster Avenue in the Village of Saugerties on
March 20 for a report of a 24-year-old woman who was the victim of an
overdose. She was found unconscious and cyanotic.

Police Chief Joseph Sinagra was among the officers who responded. He was
equipped with Narcan and administered it to the victim along with oxygen.

She was moved to an ambulance, slowly regained consciousness and started
to breathe on her own. She was transported to Kingston Hospital.
