SLOATSBURG – State Police have a Ramapo man in custody with felony charges pending after an incident Sunday evening at the Ramapo service area on the Thruway. Richard Morgan, 49, had reportedly fled from the Sunoco gas station on foot at around 7 p.m.
Troopers found Morgan as he attempted to cross the Ramapo River and became stranded on a rock. He was safely taken into custody following a rescue operation.
Morgan was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern for treatment of possible hypothermia.
The investigation is continuing.
