Spring Valley High School student indicted for stabbing fellow student

NEW CITY – A 16-year-old Spring Valley High School student has
been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on charges that he stabbed
a fellow student inside the school building.

Christopher Bermeo of 6 Maxine Court in Spring Valley was indicted on
one count of attempted murder, one count of attempted assault, and one
count of assault, all as felonies.

On March 10, 2015, at about 8:30 a.m., in the hallway of Spring Valley
High School, Bermeo approached the victim and stabbed him with a sharp
object four times in the left side of his body causing four puncture wounds
to his upper left back, upper left side, lower left abdomen and left elbow.

District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said the victim was stabbed when confronted
in a “bustling school hallway.”

Bermeo has been in the Rockland County Jail since his arrest with bail
set at $500,000 bail.
