SAUGERTIES – A man who was shot in
the leg on February 1, accidentally shot himself, Saugerties Police said
Thursday.
Eugene Masula, 46, of Catskill, was staying at a friend’s house
at 28 Riozzi Court in Saugerties when he obtained several pistols from
a locked gun cabinet, loaded a 357 magnum and while holding it, the gun
accidentally discharged, shooting him in the leg.
The owner of the weapons was out of town at the time of the incident.
Masula was charged on Wednesday with three counts of criminal possession
of a weapon, arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
