Wrong-way driver charged with vehicular manslaughter

WHITE PLAINS – The Yonkers man who
drove his car the wrong way on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the Town of
Greenburgh, killing the driver of the other car, has now been charged
with felony vehicular manslaughter.

Efren Moreano, 20, was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the
parkway just before 4 a.m. on February 27 when he struck a vehicle driven
by off-duty NYPD officer Paul Duncan, 46, of Greenburgh, who died as a
result.

Moreano was hospitalized with injuries and was now charged and arraigned
at Westchester Medical Center where he continues to recuperate from his
injuries.

Police said Moreano was intoxicated at the time of the crash and had a
blood-alcohol content of .11 percent.

He was remanded to the custody of the Westchester Department of Corrections
without bail.
