KINGSTON – A Kingston woman faces felony charges of welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing following an investigation by Ulster County authorities.
Vanessa Gonzalez failed to report employment income for a 16 month period and as result, collected $9,633 in SNAP food stamp benefits to which she was not entitled, authorities said. She was issued an appearance ticket to Ulster Town Court.
Gonzalez’s arrest was part of the county’s zero tolerance anti-fraud, waste and abuse program.  The case was investigated by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, the county social services and district attorney’s offices.
