PORT JERVIS – Orange and Rockland Utilities is scheduling a brief power
outage affecting 1,360 of its electric customer in part of Port Jervis
and Montague, N.J. between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, March 6 in order
to make emergency repairs to O&R’s Port Jervis electric substation.

The outage is expected to last no more than two minutes, and probably
less.
The outage is necessary for O&R to safely complete emergency repairs
that were begun Wednesday after an equipment failure in O&R’s
Port Jervis substation knocked out power to approximately 3,000 O&R
electric customers in the area. That outage began about 5 a.m. Wednesday
and customers were restored to service throughout the morning by switching
their service on to adjacent circuits. All customers were back in service
before noon Wednesday.
O&R plans another brief outage Sunday, March 8 once the repairs at
the substation are complete. The time of that planned outage has not yet
been scheduled.
O&R is making a series of automated telephone calls to alert its
customers in the area about this work.
O&R regrets any inconvenience this effort may cause our customers
and thanks them for their patience and their cooperation in the successful
completion of this important work.
