GOSHEN – The 280 corrections officers
employed at the Orange County Jail, who are members of the Orange County
Corrections Officers Benevolent Association, are headed toward a new contract.

The new four-year agreement, which is retroactive to January 1, 2012,
expires at the end of this year.

The pact includes no pay raise in the first two years, and 1.5 percent
in each of the last two years.

County Human Resources Commissioner Steven Gross told the Public Safety
and Emergency Services Committee of the county legislature that the contract
also provides for all members to contribute to the cost of their health
care policies.

The committee unanimously approved the new contract at its Thursday meeting.
