Fire damages Chestnut Ridge home

CHESTNUT RIDGE – Fire Thursday night caused damage to a residence at 45 Grotke Road in Chestnut Ridge. Responding Ramapo Police officers observed heavy smoke emanating from the single-family home.
Two people in the home were able to get out safely and without injury.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, but remains under investigation, police said. Ramapo Police detectives, Rockland County BCI and the Town of Ramapo fire inspector were on the scene.
South Spring Valley firefighters were assisted by Monsey, Pearl River, Nanuet and Spring Valley fire departments as well as Faist Ambulance and Rockland Paramedics.
