POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie Police Department and Fraternal Order of Police are going to conduct a blood drive on Monday, February 23 to pay tribute to fallen Detective John Falcone. The drive will be held at the Italian Community Center at 227 Mill Street in Poughkeepsie.
It has been four years since Falcone, an 18-year-veteran of the police force, was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence incident. He saved a young child when he was killed.
The blood drive is “one way in which to bring all parts of our community together to honor this fallen brother and hero,” said Mary Ellen McCue of the Fraternal Order of Police. “It is also a way in which to keep his memory alive while helping people in the Hudson Valley; giving the gift of life through blood donations.”
