Warming centers opened

MID-HUDSON – With the frigid temperatures
continuing, the City of Middletown and Village of Monticello have opened
warming centers for those who need a place to get out of the cold.

Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano announced that the Middletown Senior
Center at 62-70 West Main Street is open from Sunday morning until noon
and Monday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The center will be staffed with city personnel and volunteers.

The mayor asked residents to contact the police department at 845-343-3151
if they are aware of anyone who needs assistance in the cold weather.
In Monticello, Village Manager David Sager, in conjunction with the
Monticello Fire Department and the Sullivan County Federation of the Homeless,
has opened the Ted Stroebele Center as a warming center due to the cold
weather conditions.
The center will remain open throughout the week due to forecasted weather
and community need.
The village is in need of volunteers and food donations.
