KINGSTON – State Police at Kingston have arrested a Kingston man as being a fugitive from justice from the State of Virginia.
On February 11, New York State Police and the Fairfax County, Virginia Police Department executed a search warrant at 51 Clinton Avenue in Kingston.
Eric Barnard was suspected of sending images of child pornography to a person in Fairfax County.  Barnard did not realize the person to whom he was sending photos was actually an undercover police officer from Fairfax County Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Barnard allegedly sent 40 images depicting children ranging in age from five to 16 engaged in sexually explicit poses.
Police said there is no evidence that he had any physical contact with the children in the photos.
Barnard was charged as a fugitive from justice and arraigned in Ulster County Court. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail pending extradition to Fairfax County.
