Bloomingburg man arrested for child rape

WURTSBORO – State Police arrested a Bloomingburg man on charges that he raped an underage girl over the course of the last three years.
Robert Johnson, 50, was charged with three counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, two counts of rape, and course of sexual conduct against a child, all as felonies. He was also charged with the misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation during which a female victim claimed that over the course of the last three years, she was subjected to sexual conduct and contact by Johnson. She also alleged that on two occasions last year, Johnson had sex with her.
Johnson was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $400,000 cash bail.
