O&W Station

MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Community Health Center is working
toward securing permanent financing to convert the fire-damaged O&W
Station in Middletown into new offices for their healthcare operation.
The organization has secured state and federal grants for the extensive renovation project and Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano said when completed, the building will be restored to its former glory.
“The financing requires them to restore it to (state historic preservation) standards, so the building will be as authentic as possible in order for them to qualify for that portion of state tax credits,” DeStefano said.
The Middletown Common Council has granted the health center an extension
on their contract with the city, the current owner of the building, to
give them more time to secure financing for the restoration.
