MIDDLETOWN – Police have arrested a Middletown man on a felony
charge of criminal mischief for allegedly demolishing a building in which
he lived but did not own.
Middletown officers who responded to the report on Monday found James
Rhein, 48, of Woodland Avenue, knocking the house to the ground with an
excavator and disposing of the debris into dumpsters.
Utility companies were not notified of the demolition, which resulted
in emergency callouts for termination of electric, water and gas.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Police said additional charges may be pending.
