CATSKILL – State Police Wednesday arrested a 35-year-old Durham
man on a charge of felony assault against a child.
Troopers at the Catskill barracks charged Brian Smith following an investigation
into a reported assault of a child who is under the age of seven. He is
not related to the victim.
The incident allegedly occurred at a private residence in the Town of
Durham.
In addition to the felony assault count, police also charged Smith with
misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $5,000
cash bail or $10,000 bond.
