TOWN OF ULSTER – Police in the Town of Ulster arrested two area people for reporting false criminal incidents at the Hudson Valley Mall. One of the suspects was an off-duty security guard there.
A 17-year-old Belvedere Lane, Saugerties woman was arrested on Sunday, January 11 after police received a call from mall security of a woman in distress, screaming for help in the area of Macy’s. When officers arrived, it was determined the store was occupied by employees conducting inventory.
The young woman who was screaming was charged with misdemeanors of falsely reporting an incident and conspiracy.
Police also arrested Gary Wells, 18, of Sheehan Court in Kingston, an off-duty security guard at the mall. He allegedly made a call reporting a threat of violence toward responding officers. Police investigated and determined that the on-duty security officer was not involved in the incident.
Wells was charged with misdemeanors of falsely reporting an incident, aggravated harassment and conspiracy.
