Former Orange County state trooper named state homeland security commissioner

Melville

ALBANY – John Melville, who at one time was Troop F State Police commander, has been appointed by the governor as the commissioner of the State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Melville is currently acting commissioner.
From 2012 to 2014, he served as chief investigator at the Orange County
District Attorney’s Office and spent 31 years as a member of the
State Police, holding positions including troop commander and later as
deputy superintendent of
Field Command and as superintendent.
Melville has a B.S. from SUNY Cortland and an M.S. in criminal justice from SUNY Albany.
