WHITE PLAINS – A former New Rochelle man who is serving a 30-year prison term for killing his girlfriend and assaulting his male roommate has had the appeal of his conviction affirmed by the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court.
Akeem Lindsay, 35, was sentenced on charges of murder, assault, attempted assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, in connection with the machete death of Lisa Stabler, 29, in February 2012.
The appeals court ruled that contrary to Lindsay’s contention, he was provided with meaningful legal defense counsel throughout his proceedings. The court also rejected his claim that the sentenced imposed after trial in Westchester County Court was greater than the sentence offered during plea negotiations. The court ruled that “does not establish that he was punished for asserting his right to a trial.”
