TOWN OF WALLKILL – Peter Green was sworn in Monday as Wallkill’s third town justice and with his election comes a distinction no other town in Orange County can boast.
Town Supervisor Daniel Depew said the town has a very busy court.
“This will be the only town in Orange County that has three justices,” Depew said. “It will be the second court system in Orange County to have three justices being the City of Newburgh just got a third judge, but we are the sixth busiest court system in New York State and we are the busiest court system in Orange County so to have this extra judge helps things move along better.”
Wallkill has I-84 and New York Route 17 running through it and a large shopping center district running along Route 211, adding to the traffic that drives up court activity.
