KINGSTON – Westchester Medical Center
in Valhalla and HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley Monday announced they
have entered into exclusive discussions for Westchester Med to become
the sole corporate member of the Kingston-based HealthAlliance.
This announcement comes just weeks after Westchester Med announced similar
discussions with the Bon Secours group of hospitals, which include Good
Samaritan in Suffern, Warwick Community Hospital and Bon Secours Hospital
in Port Jervis.
Last April, Westchester Med took over operations at Saint Francis Hospital
in Poughkeepsie.
The two hospitals “both determined that joining forces would improve
our hospital systems’ ability to provide healthcare services in
our communities,” said HealthAlliance President David Scarpino.
“We at HealthAlliance also found the visions and goals of Westchester
to resonate greatly with those of our hospital system.”
“A strategic alliance with the HealthAlliance organization will
serve to strengthen both of our organizations by allowing for better ties
between the communities served in Ulster, Delaware and Dutchess counties
and the care provided at Westchester Medical Center’s campus, hospitals
and practices, said Westchester Med President Michael Israel. “By
bringing the right healthcare offerings and the best care providers into
the communities we serve, all of our organizations and the children and
adults of our region will benefit.”
