John Caruso

May 21, 1932 – April 19, 2024

 

John Caruso, age 91, passed away on April 19, 2024, at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. He was born in Beacon, NY on May 21, 1932, to the late Aurileo and Laura (Muscitell) Caruso. John had been married to his beloved wife Phyllis (Wilkin) Caruso for over 69 years before she predeceased him in 2022.

John worked for many years as a Foreman for Montfort Block in Newburgh, NY. He was a hardworking man who had a great sense of humor. He was very devoted to his wife Phyllis and their children and grandchildren. He was the type of person that if you knew him, you loved him. For fun, John and Phyllis loved to visit the casinos, especially Mohegan Sun and Monticello.

John is survived by his children: Debbi Cocuzza and her husband Robert, Robin Marks, and Thomas Caruso and his wife Marie; his grandchildren: Christopher Slaughter and his wife Yasmine, Jaime Van Zandt and her husband Tommy, Robert Cocuzza Jr. and his wife Kim, Steven Marks and his wife Meaghan, Greg Marks and his wife Christine, Anthony Caruso and his wife Sarah, and Analisa Souza and her husband Dave; his great-grandchildren: Justice, Noah, Isaac, Asher, Petra, Eden, Camryn, Caleb, Leighton, Griffin, Jane, Rose and Grant; as well as his siblings: Ed Caruso, and Josie Stortini.

Funeral services will be private at this time and John is being buried at Hopewell Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc.
