Gordon Wilson Brown

Gordon Wilson Brown, a devoted family man, passed away on October 22, 2023, in Liebhardt, NY. He was born on April 1, 1934, in Kingston, NY to Harry and Beatrice (Gray) Brown.

Gordon served in the Airforce from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War, demonstrating his bravery and commitment to his country. Following his military service, Gordon embarked on a remarkable career as a correctional officer at Eastern. With over 35 years of service, he was known for his unwavering discipline and compassion towards his colleagues and inmates alike.

Outside of work, Gordon found solace in working the family farm and tending to the land. Farming was not only a hobby for him but also a way to connect with nature and find tranquility amidst the busyness of daily life.

Gordon will forever be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, and love for those around him. He served as a pillar of strength for his family and friends, always ready to offer support whenever it was needed.

Gordon is survived by his son Christopher G. Brown and his wife Heather, his daughter Melissa A. Brown, his daughter Jennifer Brown, his daughter Andrea Lemus and her husband Octaviano, his son Andrew G. Gibson Jr., and his son Matthew J. Gibson and his wife Kelly. He was also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Gordon’s children’s mother Nancy Lou Brown mourns his loss alongside numerous relatives and friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Beatrice as well as by his brother Millard F. Brown, sister Betty Lou McCauley, and brother Harry F. Brown.

Services to celebrate Gordon’s life will take place over two days. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Humiston Funeral Home located at 30 42nd St, Kerhonkson. The following day, on October 28th, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Palentown Cemetery in Kerhonkson.

In honoring Gordon and his legacy, let us all remember his unwavering dedication to his profession, his love for his family, and his commitment to the land he tended. He will forever remain in our hearts as a shining example of strength, compassion, and resilience.

Gordon himself requested that donations in his memory be made to the Palentown Cemetery.
