Frederick D. Smith passed away on August 25, 2023, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill, NY. He was 84 years old. Son of the late Frederick and Hanora (O’Callaghan) Smith, he was born on October 23, 1938, in New York, NY.
Frederick’s extensive background includes serving in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, followed by his role as a Construction Service Representative for Con Ed in New York City. He has demonstrated his commitment to his community through his long-standing service as Treasurer of the Mt. Lodge Fire Company for 40 years and an active member for 50 years, and his involvement in the Knights of Columbus Council and Our Lady Lourdes Council 5890 in Washingtonville. Additionally, he has served on the Housing Urban Development “HUD” Board in Washingtonville.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Patricia Smith of Washingtonville, NY; son Patrick “PJ” Smith and his wife Tammy, of Flemington, NJ; his sister Honora Bellucco and her husband Pasquale, of Goshen, NY; and his beloved grandson Connor John Smith. In addition to his parents, Frederick was also predeceased by his son Frederick M. Smith.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Smith, Seman & Quackenbush Funeral Home 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Ave., Washingtonville, NY. Interment will follow at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
