POUGHKEEPSIE – The revived tradition of fireworks between the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the Walkway Over the Hudson continued Thursday night in Poughkeepsie.  The event was supported by corporate sponsors including Central Hudson, Nuvance Health, and the Walkway Over the Hudson, according to Mayor Yvonne Flowers.

Flowers says the fireworks are important for Poughkeepsie.  “It brings our community together to celebrate unity and remind us of the greatness of our city.”

The Mid-Hudson Bridge was illuminated by flashing red, white, and blue lights during the pyrotechnic display celebrating 248 years of independence from King George III and Great Britain.
