POUGHKEEPSIE – City council members Ondie James and Terriciena Brown hosted a Community Prayer Vigil at Earline Patrice Park at Mansion Square on Saturday afternoon.  Fifth Ward Councilwoman James told Mid Hudson News that the event was open to all city residents, community leaders, clergy, youth groups, churches, elected officials, family, friends, and organizations.

The invitation from James and Brown said “Let’s gather together to pray for our community, city, state, our nation, and the world.  As we see the challenges in our society, among our youth, the pressing issues of homelessness, drug addiction, gun violence, and global conflict, we must come together to answer the urgent call to PRAY.”

Despite darkening skies, a handful of people gathered in the park with James and Brown, including Mayor Yvonne Flowers and Dr. Felicia Watson, who gave a rousing call to prayer on several topics.
