Newburgh fire leaves four homeless

NEWBURGH – Thursday’s early morning fire on City Terrace destroyed one building and severely damaged two others, leaving three adults and one child homeless. They are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

The two-alarm blaze, which was reported at around 2:43 a.m. destroyed 24 City Terrace and damaged 26 and 28 City Terrace.

Officials said one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the operation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by city fire investigators.

Newburgh firefighters were assisted by West Point, Stewart Air Guard, Castle Point, Cronomer Valley, Goodwill, and Cornwall-on-Hudson fire departments.
