POUGHKEEPSIE – Several search warrants were executed simultaneously in the Poughkeepsie area on Thursday resulting in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.

Mid-Hudson News was on the scene when the task force raided a Spanish restaurant at 96 Washington Street in Poughkeepsie around 11 a.m.  During the investigation, undercover agents had purchased cocaine from members of the drug-trafficking network at the restaurant.  Purchases were also made at other locations in both the city and town.

The investigation into the sale of cocaine and other dangerous drugs in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie was conducted by the task force and resulted in Thursday’s arrests of Jesus Rios-Reyes, 52, Norma Suazo-Ortiz, 36, and Marco Antonio Martinez-Marino.  All three individuals were charged with felony criminal possession of a narcotic drug weighing four ounces or more, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and felony possession of methamphetamine weighing 1/8 ounce or more.

The raids resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of cocaine and methamphetamines packaged for sale, two vehicles, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

All three suspects were arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center without bail.

Dutchess County District Attorney, Anthony Parisi said, “These arrests reflect our continued commitment to take drug dealers off our streets. We cannot accept people profiting from the misery of addiction while also threatening the safety of our community.”

Parisi vowed to continue his efforts to interrupt the illegal drug trade. “We will continue to collaborate with our partners in law enforcement to work towards a community free from dangerous drugs and those who seek to profit from their proliferation.”

Dutchess County Sheriff’s Detective Sergeant Adam Harris told said that his agents are committed to their mission.  “We take a great deal of pride in disrupting dangerous drug operations such as the network we dismantled on Thursday.  We will continue to investigate drug dealers who are attempting to poison our community.”
