MONTICELLO- The New York State Democratic Party has opened a Sullivan County field office in Monticello to support candidates running for national and state offices this November.

One key race set to gain national attention will be a rematch of the 2022 race between Democrat Josh Riley and incumbent Republican Congressman Marc Molinaro in the 19th district.

There are also two contested state races in Sullivan this Fall with State Senate candidate MichelleFrazier set to square off against incumbent Republican State Senator Peter Oberacker in the 51st district.

Additionally, a highly contested race for the 100th Assembly District is anticipated to shape up as Democrat Paula Kay faces off against Republican Lou Ingrassia in an open seat soon to be vacated by retiring Democrat Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther.

Speaking about her campaign, Frazier said, “I don’t take any corporate PAC money in my race because I am running to fight for working folks not corporate PACs.”

Frazier said she is running to protect abortion rights and plans on tackling the state’s largest problems head-on.  Speaking about her opponent, Frazier said, “Oberacker is up in Albany saying that he can’t get things done because he’s got bad colleagues, but when I have people that are difficult to work with, I still need to do my job.  Abdicating that responsibility is not what I’m going to do.”
For her part, Paula Kay talked about how she wants to bridge political differences.
“In Albany, there are extremists on both sides of both parties, and we need to work together.  It’s important for everybody to sit down and come up with common sense solutions to these issues because if we’re just screaming at each other we’re not getting anything done,” she said.
