NEWBURGH- Newburgh School District’s Superintendent, Dr. Jackielyn Manning Campbell and Newburgh Free Academy P-TECH high school student, Leiyla Barthe discussed career pathways with U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona, in a panel discussion earlier this week.

Hosted by Congressman Pat Ryan and Dutchess County Community College, the panel consisted of leaders in education, industry and workforce development experts, and students who are currently enrolled in career pathways.

“I am honored to be part of such an esteemed group of people, influencing this national topic of conversation,” said Manning Campbell.  “Students in our district are fortunate to have access to explore their options and develop knowledge and skills that prepare them for a wide range of opportunities.”

Newburgh Free Academy’s P-TECH program recently celebrated it’s 10th year.  Over the past decade, the program has been supporting high school students who are able to complete their graduation requirements and simultaneously earn an Associate Degree from SUNY Orange.

In addition to the P-TECH program, Newburgh Free Academy also offers more than 20 Career and Technical Education programs in-house.

I am glad that our experiences and the solid programs we have in place can positively contribute to expanding access to scholars throughout the country,” concluded Manning Campbell.
