NEW WINDSOR – Assemblyman Christopher Eachus (D, New Windsor) unveiled the newly installed sign dedicated parts of Route 32 as “Catholic War Veterans Memorial Highway” on Friday.

The highway was named after Eachus passed legislation in the Assembly along with Senator Skoufis’ companion bill, and extends from State Route 32 from its intersection with Quaker Avenue in the town of Cornwall and continuing north to its intersection with state routes 300 and 94.

“The Catholic War Veterans have provided incredible services and resources to our distinguished veterans right here in Orange County,” said Eachus. “Our US armed forces members and their families sacrifice everything in service to our country, and to have groups like the Catholic War Veterans that support them in their mission is invaluable. I am proud to be able to honor them today through this simple but important display, and will continue to work tirelessly to make sure they are recognized and treated with the respect they deserve here in New York.”

“As commander of CWV Joseph R Farina Memorial Post 386, I know I am speaking for all the officers and members of our post, when I say what a great honor it is to have the renaming of a portion of a state highway The Catholic War Veterans Memorial Highway” said Bob Schiela, CWV Post 386 commander.

The Catholic War Veterans is an organization composed of service members of all branches and their families, dedicated to veterans’ rights and upholding American ideals.

The Catholic War Veterans Post 386 was officially chartered on July 11, 1988 and serves all veterans in the Orange County area, offering tailored services and activities to address community needs.

The new signs can be seen by traveling northbound on 32 before the Moodna Creek bridge, or southbound on 32 near the “Five Corners” interchange.
