BEDFORD – A senior at Fox Lane High School in the Bedford School District died Tuesday on the eve of his graduation following a horrific car crash in northern Westchester.

Bedford Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Joshua Martinez-Arana.

Police Lt. Jeffrey Gulick said Martinez-Arana and another senior from the Class of 2024 were traveling at a high rate of speed at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday along Bedford Road when the vehicle went out of control and crashed.

Both of the students were transported to Westchester Medical Center, where Martinez-Arana, who was driving, was treated for critical injuries and later died.

The unidentified youth remains in critical condition.

Bedford School District Superintendent Robert Glass sent a letter to parents Tuesday regarding the incident and identified them as two seniors at the high school. “Our full counseling team is available to support our students as needs emerge,” Glass wrote. “Please keep these students and their families in your thoughts and prayers.”
