FedEx driver deceased following neighborhood accident

NEWBURGH – The driver of a FedEx delivery vehicle has died following an accident in a Newburgh neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.  City of Newburgh police responded to a report of a box truck into a utility pole on Barton Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 15, 2024.

When officers arrived, they found the driver unconscious and unresponsive and began lifesaving measures while requesting an ambulance to the scene.  Firefighters from the City of Newburgh and the Good Will Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist.

First responders administered CPR to the FedEx driver at the scene and efforts continued in the ambulance transporting him to the hospital.  The driver was pronounced dead at Montefiore St. Luke’s -Cornwall Hospital.

City of Newburgh police closed Barton Street to traffic and the department’s accident reconstruction team was dispatched to the scene.
