NEW WINDSOR – The Town of New Windsor police have arrested two men following a stabbing of a 24-year-old man in the Silver Stream Village trailer park on Friday afternoon.  The incident occurred at 1:21 p.m. at 16 Bivona Lane, according to New Windsor Police Chief Dan Valeri.

As a result of an immediate investigation, New Windsor police arrested New Windsor residents Steven Gordon, 59, and John Maines, 67.  Gordon has been charged with the felonies of assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a weapon.  Maines is facing the felony charges of strangulation and criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Both were arraigned at the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP Court) in Goshen and remanded to the Orange County Jail.

According to Chief Valeri, his officers responded to the report of a stabbing Friday and located a 24-year-old male with stab wounds to his right hand and face, with substantial bleeding.  The New Windsor cops placed a tourniquet on the man’s arm to stop the bleeding from the hand wound.  New Windsor EMS personnel applied a second tourniquet on the victim before transporting him to the local hospital for further treatment.

The investigation both at the scene and the hospital indicated that the victim had been involved in what Chief Valeri describes as a “violent encounter with the two males, which led to the stab wounds.”

Police obtained a search warrant and detectives recovered the knife used in the attack, along with quantities of crack cocaine.

New Windsor Police were assisted on scene and during the investigation by the New York State Police and Orange County District Attorney Investigators.
