PORT JERVIS- A bomb threat received by Bon Secours Community Hospital just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening brought Port Jervis Police Department and multiple other law enforcement agencies to the East Main Street location, where they remained on site for several hours.

Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said the threat was made via a call to the hospital at about 6:40 p.m.  He said Bon Secours security staff took immediate protective action, reacting quickly and professionally to alert police and ensure that all patients and others at the hospital were safe.  Emergency medical services were not interrupted during the incident.

Anyone traveling past the hospital during this time likely noticed multiple Port Jervis police and other units monitoring any and all access to and from the hospital.  The hospital was carefully searched, secured, and then cleared to resume normal operations.

Assistance during the incident was provided by multiple canine teams, including New York State Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Town of Woodbury Police Department.

Detectives are still investigating and once an arrest is made additional information and details will be provided.  Anyone with any information is asked to call Port Jervis Police Department at 845-856-5101.
