STANFORDVILLE – The New York Special Olympics Polar Plunge fundraiser is coming to Dutchess County’s Wilcox Memorial Park in October in response to requests from those who want to help Special Olympics but don’t want to travel down to Fishkill.  The annual Fishkill Polar Plunge at Sharpe Reservation will still take place.

The “Halloween-themed” plunge is taking place on October 26, 2024, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the park located on Route 199 in Stanfordville.  Proceeds benefit the New York Special Olympics – Hudson Valley Region.

“You don’t have to “plunge” to get in the water,” New York Special Olympics Director of Development Teresa Gilli told Mid Hudson News.  “There is a splash pad so participants can slide into the water, which will be a little warmer than the Fishkill Polar Plunge but it’s still benefitting our Special Olympics athletes.”  Gilli hinted that several other forms of entertainment will be available for participants and spectators at Wilcox Memorial Park.

Additional information can be obtained by emailing Teresa Gilli, Director of Development for New York Special Olympics.  Additional information can also be found by scanning the QRL code below (If you experience difficulties, scan the code a second time.)
