ROCK TAVERN- On Sunday, approximately 7o volunteers from ASEZ WAO, the young adult volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, planted 300 tree saplings in Stewart State Park, just down the road from the Stewart International Airport.  The volunteers teamed up with the state Department of Environmental Conservation to carry out the tree planting.

The volunteers planted several types of trees, including red maple, road oak, black oak, dogwood, willow and more.  The newly panted trees will help create a buffer in the wetlands, provide habitats for animals, and restore the land affected by invasive species.

Sunday’s tree planting is part of ASEZ WAO’s ongoing climate change response in which volunteers hope to plant 7 billion trees worldwide.

“When we all come together under the common goal to preserve and protect our land, we can provide a more sustainable future for the next generation,” said ASEZ WAO spokesperson, Brynn Seymour.  “This campaign, which is actively being carried out in 14 different countries, raises awareness around the world of the urgent need to combat climate change and protect life on earth.”
