SAUGERTIES- The Saugerties Board of Education has adopted a revised budget of $77,182,384, which is $569,061 less than the unsuccessful budget presented to voters in May.  The reduced budget now meets the state tax cap criteria for a simple majority voter approval.

Voters will cast their ballots on the new proposal on Tuesday, June 18 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Saugerties Junior High School gym.  The polling location has changed from the usual polling places because unlike the May vote, on June 18th school will be in session.

Speaking to the polling location change, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Faniel Erceg said, “We understand that this change may not be optimal for every individual in our district, but given the safety and security challenges presented, it was an important decision.  We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we strive to ensure the best voting environment possible and encourage anyone who may have challenges voting in person to request an early mail ballot so they are able to participate.”

Applications for absentee or early mail in ballot are available in the Hildebrandt Building behind the Jr./Sr. High School until June 17, 2024.  Completed ballots must be received by the district clerk in the Hildebrandt Building by 5 p.m. on June 18, 2024.
