GOSHEN – Two Montgomery women have been arrested and charged with grand larceny and coercion for allegedly extorting $9,000 from one of the woman’s employers by threatening to make false public statements on the internet that would materially harm the victim’s business.

The Orange County White Collar Crime Task Force arrested Ally Thueson, 32, and Elizabeth Sloanhoffer, 33, on the charges that they extorted the money from Thueson’s employer.

Under state law, the charges are not bail eligible and both women were released on appearance tickets pending future court appearances.

“Small business owners deserve to operate free of coercive threats of reputational harm,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “These alleged criminal acts are the exact types of crimes that often go unreported and are uncovered by the hard work of the task force.”

The mandate of the task force includes the investigation and prosecution of residential contractor fraud; crimes involving public integrity, public corruption, and ethics violations; embezzlement ad other complex theft cases, crimes against revenue; wage theft and labor law violations.
