TOWN OF WAPPINGER – The southbound section of Route 9D in Wappinger that floods during every rainstorm is undergoing repair by a contractor.  The flooding has concerned motorists, area residents, and Wappinger Town Supervisor Joseph Cavaccini since he was on the Dutchess County Legislature.

Roadwork began last week and paving started on Monday.  The project is estimated to take two weeks as the contractor installs new drainage culverts and makes other necessary repairs.  Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid traffic delays.

Cavaccini weighed in on the repairs, saying, “We are grateful to New York State DOT for listening to our concerns and correcting this significant drainage problem.”  He noted the need for the repairs, adding “Route 9D is one of our busiest transportation corridors through our Town and I am happy to see that the safety concerns we called out when I was serving in the county legislature and once again when I took office as Town Supervisor, are being resolved to ensure no one traveling through our community is harmed.”
