NEWBURGH – The date has been set for the civil service test for director of school safety and security for the Newburgh school district. It will be administered on July 13 with the last date to file to take the test on June 17. The test was posted online on Friday, May 31.

Former Newburgh city police chief Anthony Geraci has been appointed as the provisional safety director for the school district pending his passing the test and placing within the top three to score on it.

He was appointed by the school board at a special April 26 session to start on May 6 at an annual salary of $175,000.

The Newburgh City Civil Service Commission handles the school district’s civil service requirements in addition to the city’s.

Geraci is confident about scoring high on the exam and being named permanent safety director.
