CARMEL – A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Route 301 in Carmel.
Authorities say the two-wheeler collided with a bus about one half mile west of Gipsy Trail Road ejecting the cyclist who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the crash Route 301–the main east-west artery connecting Putnam’s western side with the more populated eastern half was closed to traffic in both directions.
State Police Accident Reconstruction teams were on the scene along with Putnam County Sheriff’s Office personnel, Carmel Police, Kent Police, Carmel FD personnel along with the Kent FD.
The road was expected to be closed for several hours.
