BOCES students preparing meal

TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – The menu resembled one found in a five-star restaurant: asparagus and bread soup with pancetta, chicken primavera, strawberry shortcake accompanied with a mint julep ‘mocktail.’

Guests were not enjoying their luncheon at Peter Luger, Tavern on the Green or the Grand Central Oyster Bar but at Tilly’s Table in Southeast—a meal prepared by students enrolled in the Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES Career and Technical Education program under the supervision of teacher Maria Rosselli.

Not only did the students prepare the feast but they served the luncheon as well after welcoming their guests.

Rosselli beamed with pride. “I am so proud of my students and how hard they worked to put this luncheon together,” she said. “They are truly amazing!”

Students enrolled in the program not only learn how to host, prepare, and serve meals but also study food health and safety.

BOCES Superintendent Neil Boyle was one of those attending and he was impressed. “The luncheon was incredible, from start to finish. Our students were true professionals, from hosting and preparing the food to serving. They are a credit to Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES!”
