TOWN OF MINISINK – If Teresa Gurdineer has her way, the Town of Minisink Heritage Commission’s Heritage Day on Saturday will have a high school reunion feel to it.

The free event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Roy Smith Drive in Westtown, will spotlight the artifacts and memorabilia tied to the Minisink Valley School District and “the pre-Minisink Valley” school years.

“We want it to be a place for people to come laugh and have a good time,” said Gurdineer, the chair of the event. “It’s like a mini high school reunion and those are a lot of fun. Just come by, grab a lawn chair, and laugh about what we used to do when we were younger.”

Memorabilia on display will include pieces from the 1940s to 1950s timeframe representing the old Unionville School and Middletown School District, which students attended before the Minisink Valley School District was formed. There will also be keepsakes representing the 1960s to 1970s and 1980s to 1900s timeframe. Items to be exhibited include yearbooks, diplomas, class rings, graduation gowns, band and sports uniforms, and sports jackets.
