NEWBURGH – Julianna Finnegan, RN, has been named Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall’s (MSLC) first-ever Nurse of the Year for her exemplary service in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at The Kaplan Family Center for Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Radiology on the Newburgh Campus.

Finnegan embarked on her nursing journey at MSLC in 2012, quickly ascending to the role of Charge Nurse within her first two years. She later transitioned to become a Critical Care Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, where her dedication and clinical expertise were vital during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Finnegan’s compassionate approach and collaborative spirit have made her a beacon of inspiration and mentorship to her colleagues.

Today, Finnegan continues to shine as a key member of MSLC’s Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology team, contributing to the success of the newly renovated Kaplan Family Center for Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Radiology.

“MSLC nurses, designated as Magnet Nurses, uphold the highest standards of nursing excellence, consistently achieving outstanding clinical outcomes,” remarked Margaret Allers, MSLC Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer. “Julianna epitomizes the essence of nursing with her unwavering dedication, clinical prowess, and deep compassion for her patients, leaving an indelible mark on all she serves.”

“I am immensely proud of Julianna for her remarkable achievements during her tenure at MSLC,” added Daniel Maughan, MSLC President and CEO. “While this is our inaugural Nurse of the Year award, I eagerly anticipate continuing this tradition to honor outstanding members of the MSLC team in the years to come.”
