MONTICELLO – Two people were shot, one fatally, as they drove into a parking lot at the Sleepy Hollow apartment complex on Terri Lane in Monticello at about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Village Police Lt. Mark Johnstone said a woman in the vehicle was rushed to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskills in Harris where she was pronounced dead.
It is believed both were shot in the head.
A man in the car with her was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill where he was in serious condition, police said.
Both victims were shot while in their car.
State Police are leading the investigation with assistance from Monticello Police, and the Sullivan County District Attorney’s and Sheriff’s Offices.
Assisting at the scene were the sheriff’s office, Empress EMS and Monticello Fire Department.
